First of all I would like to start by defining the words “technology” and “entrepreneur”.
According to Wikipedia, technology refers to the “collection of tools, including machinery, modifications arrangements and procedures used by humans.” In any way this definition can be regarded as an exact definition as technology and its scope is constantly changing.
Another interesting definition can be found at www.dictionary.com where it reads that technology is “the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society and the environment…”. In conclusion, technology refers to science, tools, methods, devices or materials used to help human solve problems.
The word entrepreneur is also understood differently by many people. I think the simplest definition, which is also commonly used, is that an entrepreneur is someone thats sees a problem, finds a solution for the problem an builds a business out of it. Of course this definition hides all of the struggle and uncertainty that comes with the entrepreneurial journey. Scientists, business people and government entities have also different views on what is exactly an entrepreneur. Also, there are many people that show the characteristics of an entrepreneur and don’t view themselves as entrepreneurs. You can find a full article trying to define an entrepreneur here.
So now we have the “tools” to come up with a simple definition of what is a technology entrepreneur: is someone that builds a business using technology to solve a perceived problem.
